While under their instruction, she performed in numerous recitals and competitions. She received superior ratings in many MAMA, Federation, and Guild competitions. She was chosen to perform in Honors Recitals for both The Sonatina Festival in 1997 and District/State Audition in 1999. Ms. Hunt was awarded a generous music scholarship to study under Goeff Bittner at Lindenwood University. She transferred two years later to East Central College to study under the world-renowned pianist, Dr. Jennifer Lim.
Ms. Hunt began her teaching career as a substitute for several local piano teachers. For the past six years she has been teaching privately for a studio in the St. Peters area. She teaches all ages and levels and offers recitals and competition opportunities to her students.
Ms. Hunt uses the traditional method of piano instruction. Traditional method begins with learning note reading and theory to prepare students for all genres including classical, jazz, and contemporary music. All beginning students are required to use lesson and theory books, flash cards, computer games and other learning tools. Parents are expected to sit in the lesson room with younger students in order to provide help as needed at home.
All students with the exception of the adult student will be required to participate in the studio recitals and regional competitions. These experiences give students confidence and the ability to prepare them for auditions in the future.
Ms. Hunt has studied art from the time she was in middle school through college. She is currently a senior at Webster University where she is finishing her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She has studied various art forms under numerous teachers and artists. She studied privately under Jan Groenemann who is a renowned artist from St. Louis to California. Ms. Hunt offers individualized instruction in a classroom setting using various mediums. |
