                                                                Catherine Dudley

 

New York City teaching artist Catherine Dudley has recently moved to the Lake St. Louis area. Catherine has worked multiple times with Theatre World Award winner and recording artist Nellie McKay, award winning actress Allison Janney (Juno, West Wing) and Pulitzer Prize winning writers Michael Christofer, (Original Sin, Witches of Eastwick) and John Patrick Shanley (Doubt, Moonstruck). Chosen by Allison Janney, Catherine was a member of a non-profit theatre company for seven years as its youngest member. Ms. Dudley has received rave reviews as an actress in Newsday, Backstage, TheatreWeek, the Scotsman, the Herald and the BBC, and is a regular performer for the Broadway Theatre Institute’s Annual Awards Gala in New York. Catherine enjoys a multi-faceted career as an actress, musician, and writer, often combining two or more of these disciplines.

Catherine has taught adults and young actors at the renowned Vassar / New York Stage & Film summer program, and for the Broadway Theatre Institute she worked with NYC public school students to write and perform their own plays. Her own screenplay Parallel Chords, has been optioned twice, and received a grant funded in part by the NEA. She has been commissioned to write three screenplays since. This summer she taught the Intro to Acting class for 9-12 year olds at the West Kortwright Center in upstate NY, culminating in a well-received performance for the public that she adapted and directed.

Catherine Dudley enjoys a multi-faceted career in the arts. Catherine has received rave reviews as an actress in Newsday, Backstage, TheatreWeek, the Scotsman, the Herald and the BBC.  She has performed violin in major venues and been the voice for Coke in the Stad du France, appeared on The Guiding Light, Double Platinum (with Diana Ross and Brandy), Rear Window (with Christofer Reeve s) and worked on numerous projects on stage and film.

Catherine is a regular performer for the Broadway Theatre Institute’s Annual Awards Gala. Catherine has taught acting at the Vassar / New York Stage & Film Summer Program, working with apprentice actors chosen from across the states. Additionally, she has been a teaching artist for the Broadway Theatre Institute. With BTI, Catherine worked with 90 kids in the NYC public schools to write three plays that the students then performed for the public. This summer she taught the Intro to Acting class for 9-12 year olds at the West Kortwright Center in upstate NY, culminating in a well-received performance for the public that she adapted and directed.
